Om Monika Bauhr

Presentation

Monika Bauhr is an Associate Professor at deparment of Political Science, University of Gothenburg, and the head of the Quality of Government Institute. She has previously been a visiting scholar at Stanford University, the University of Florida in the US and the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. She has also served as a consultant and participated in  public events relating to climate change, corruption and development policies. Between 2014 and 2017 she has been the Scientific Coordinator and Principal Investigator of  the  ANTICORRP (Anticorruption Policies Revisited: Global Trends and European Responses to the Challenge of Corruption), a large-scale multidisciplinary research project, funded by the European Commission. Her most recent work appears in journals such as the International Studies Quarterly, Global Environmental Politics, Governance, Comparative Political Studies and the European Journal of Political Research.

Forskningsintresse

Her research is mainly concerned with the link between democracy and corruption, where she explores differences between different forms of corruption and clientelism as well as the influence of transparency and corruption on civic and electoral engagement. She also studies the determinants of effective foreign aid delivery and the effects of corruption on public support for foreign aid and international redistribution, as well as the link between gender, corruption and public service delivery.

Pågående forskning

She is currently involved in two research programs, the RJ funded  program "Out of Control or Over Controlled: Incentives Audits and New Public Management" and the EU Horizon 2020 funded program PERCEIVE (Perceptions and Evaluations of Regional Cohesion Policy by Europeans and Identification with the Values of Europe)

Undervisning

Bauhrs graduate and undergraduate courses include Research Design for doctoral students, International Environmental Politics, experimental design and regression analysis, as well as supervision and examination of theses.

She is member of the steering board of the Program in Environmental Social Science (SMIL - Samhällsvetenskapligamiljövetarprogrammet). She also chairs the Minor Field Studies Committee (MFS).
