Om Marina Nistotskaya

I am Associate Professor (Docent) at the Department of Political Science and research fellow at the Quality of Government Institute, University of Gothenburg. 


My research focuses on:

  • how public bureaucracies are organized around the world. I am PI of the QoG Expert Survey on bureaucratic structures and bureaucratic behaviour in countries across the world and across Russia's regions;
  • State capacity conceptualization and measurment
  • Effects of New Public Management reforms
  • Women political representation in authocratic regimes

I have published on these and related topics in Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Governance, Public Administration, the European Journal of Political Research, Environment and Planning C and Journal of East African Studies.

I teach BA, MA and PhD-level courses. I am the course coordinater for Quality of Government in Comparative Perspective (MA), Delegation to Executives: Dilemmas and Institutional Solutions (BA) and Advanced Study of the State, its Citizens and its Institutions (PhD). 

Under my supervision more than 30 studentsd have succesfully defended their MA dissersations at the University of Gothenburg. I also supervise BA students and doctorants.
