We hold regular series of seminars on interesting and exciting topics that attract big audiences. These seminars are the core of our scholarly conversation with the wider community, and are always open to the public. These seminars are given by the Department’s own staff as well as invited guests.

General Research Seminar (RSP)

The General Research Seminar is our joint seminar. It presents innovative research from all branches of political science and also from other subject areas of relevance to the development of political science as a subject. Chair: Ann Towns

The seminar in International Politics (IP)

At this seminar, we discuss issues broadly relating to international and global politics. Chair: Adrian Hyde-Price

Public Administration and Public Policy Seminar (PAPP)

This seminar discusses research about public administration and public policy. Papers presented at this seminar are often comparative in nature, either over time or between cases. Chair: Carl Dahlström

Elections, Opinions and Democracy Seminar (EOD)

This seminar includes presentations of research about how political systems influence elections, voter behaviour, political parties, participation in politics, citizens’ opinions, the media, and political campaigns. Chairs: Henrik Ekengren Oscarsson & Maria Solevid

Lunchtime seminars: Quality of Government (QoG)

These are seminars on the quality of government and the causes and effects of corruption. How are high-quality political institutions created and maintained? How does corruption and governance impact human health, the environment, social policy and poverty? The questions are many. The answers are provided by speakers from the international research milieu as well as experts from NGOs and other types of organisations. Chair: Andreas Bågenholm

Lunchtime seminars: Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem)

These seminars focus on questions of democracy. International researchers and parts of V-Dem’s global team present their research on issues such as violence in connection with elections in democratic countries, the stability of party systems in new democracies, and democratic and authoritarian regimes. Chair: Anna Lührmann

Lunchtime seminars: Governance and Local Development (GLD)

GLD´s seminars focus on the relationship between governance and factors at the local level. The aim of the research conducted is to promote improvement in human welfare globally. Chair: Ellen Lust

Lunchtime seminars: Collective Action Research (CeCAR)

CeCAR holds regular lunchtime seminars with invited international and national guest lecturers on questions related to collective action. Chair: Sverker C. Jagers

Party Research Seminars

The Party Research Programme at the Department also holds regular research seminars focusing on political parties. Chair: Jonas Hinnfors
