Study conditions

Up to three students enrolled in the Master's Programme in European Studies - Double Degree with UNC-CH at the University of Gothenburg study year one at UNC-CH, enrolled in its Transatlantic Masters Program (TAMII) European Governance track, the second study year will be located at the Centre for European Studies in Gothenburg.

Double degrees

Successful graduates will obtain two master’s degree certificates, one from each university, specifying what courses have been completed at each of the two universities. The two master's degree certificates are equivalent to the master's degree in the countries of the partner universities as follows:

  • University of Gothenburg: Master of Science MSc (120 credits) with a major in European Studies
  • UNC-CH: Master’s degree in Political Science concentration European Governance

 

To be awarded the two degrees you are not allowed to change your study plan during the programme, neither are you allowed to change campus. The first year is required to be at UNC-CH, and the second year at the University of Gothenburg.
 

The final examination

The study programme is concluded by a defense of the master thesis. This consists of a presentation of the thesis’ findings and a discussion of the thesis. This takes place during year two in Gothenburg during the 4th semester. You are only required to write one master thesis.
