About Dragana Davidovic

Dragana Davidovic is a PhD candidate at the Quality of Government (QoG) Institute and the Centre for Collective Action Research (CeCAR). She has a double bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Environmental Science with specialization in Environmental Politics, and a master’s degree in International Administration and Global Governance from the University of Gothenburg.

Areas of interest

She has a broad interest in collective action on environmental issues and a special interest in environmental policy instruments and public opinion. In her past research, she has explored public support for environmental taxes internationally, investigating cross-level interactions between values, social trust, political trust and quality of government (QoG). In her doctoral project, she will continue with this comparative research and explore public support for environmental policy instruments in countries with high and low levels of QoG.

Current research

She studies public support for environmental policies, with a focus on how trust and perceptions of QoG moderate the effect of people's green values and left-right ideological orientations on support for environmental taxes. She has recently published a paper in the journal Environmental Politics together with Niklas Harring and Sverker C. Jagers, building on the analyses and ideas from her master’s thesis: Trust, values and quality of government – A multilevel cross-country investigation of public support for environmental taxes. The paper is titled The contingent effects of environmental concern and ideology: institutional context and people's willingness to pay environmental taxes.

Future career

Environmental policy is the field where she wants to pursue her career. After completion of her doctoral programme, she is open to job opportunities in both the academic and policy world, involving work on policy relevant research in the environmental field.
