One of Europe´s leading political science departments

The Department of Political Science is well known for its eminent research, highly qualified lecturers, and its deep engagement with the wider community. It’s a place where researchers and students from all over the world gather. In the most recent evaluation of the research conducted at the University of Gothenburg, the Department of Political Science was found to be one of Europe’s foremost in its field.

The research conducted focuses on elections, opinion polls and democracy. But we also conduct research on the importance of – and how to create – well-functioning political institutions, as well as research on international and European politics. Studies are also conducted in the fields of gender policy, environmental policy, corruption and political ideas.
