EMAES takes place in a vibrant academic environment where cutting edge international research meets public discussions on pressing contemporary societal issues. Besides research and teaching there is a wide range of public outreach activities. A couple of examples are:

Brännpunkt Europa is an award winning, student led organization that invites high profile guests, both within academia, working life and politics to give guest lectures.

The Centre for European Research organizes an annual European Research Daywhich focuses on current research being done at the University of Gothenburg, often featuring invited scholars who are relevant to the seminar's annual theme.

Every year, CERGU researchers take part in European Perspective, which involves seminars that deal with issues related to Europe.

Every year in mid-October, CES and CERGU jointly organise the October Workshop, a two-hour event open to the public as well as students and researchers, focusing on a timely thematic issue.
