Niklas Harring

Presentation

Niklas Harring is a researcher and lecturer at the Department of Political Science. He is to affiliated the Centre for Collective Action Research, the Department of Humanities and Social Science Education, Stockholm University, The SOM Institute, Quality of Government Institute and Centre of Environmental Political Studies.

His dissertation The Multiple Dilemmas of Environmental Protection – The Effects of Generalized and Political Trust on the Acceptance of Environmental Policy Instruments studies the effects of generalized and political trust on environmental policy instrument support in a comparative perspective.

Areas of interest

Large scale collective action, environmental politics, attitudes to pro-environmental policy instruments, political trust, social trust, values, corruption, quality of government, public opinion towards the environment, public opinion on climate change.

Current research

Niklas is currently working in several projects at the Centre for Collective Action Research and in the research program The Climate Change Challenge which studies attitudes toward environmental policy among university students in economics, political science and law.

Teaching and tutoring

Environmental Sciences – Basic Course.


He supervises theses at undergraduate and master level and he is a part of the management team of the Environmental Social Science Programme at the University of Gothenburg, with responsibility for the environmental politics orientation.
