About Monika Bauhr

Presentation

Monika Bauhr is an Associate Professor at the Quality of Government Institute at the department of Political Science, Göteborg University. She has previously been a visiting scholar at Stanford University, the University of Florida and the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, and a research fellow in a cross disciplinary research program on climate change (COPE). She has also served as a consultant and participated in public events relating to climate change, corruption and development policies. She is the Scientific Coordinator of ANTICORRP (Anticorruption Policies Revisited: Global Trends and European Responses to the Challenge of Corruption), a large-scale multidisciplinary research project, funded by the European Commission. Her most recent work appears in journals such as the International Studies Quarterly, Global Environmental Politics and Governance.

Areas of interest

Her research is mainly concerned with the role of international organizations and aid in promoting good government. She studies the link between transparency, accountability and corruption and how norms and beliefs about corruption influence efforts to promote sustainable development, in particular climate policies and the working of international carbon markets.

Current research

Her current research project is entitled “International Organizations, Aid and Quality of Government”. From September 2013, she will lead and conduct research within work package 11 in ANTICORRP, entitled “Building Accountability; Transparency, Civil Society and Administrative Responses”.

Teaching and tutoring

Bauhrs graduate and undergraduate courses include Research Design for doctoral students, International Environmental Politics, experimental design and regression analysis, as well as supervision and examination of theses.

She is member of the steering board of the Program in Environmental Social Science (SMIL - Samhällsvetenskapligamiljövetarprogrammet). She also chairs the Minor Field Studies Committee (MFS).

Furthermore, Monika chairs the Quality of Government (QoG) seminar series. For more information about coming and past seminars, click here.
