The Department of Political Science at the University of Gothenburg consists of around 80 researchers and instructors and 25 Doctoral Students. Our undergraduate programme contains around one thousand students each year.
We offer courses in political science, public administration and social studies, as well as courses within the Program of European Studies. The research profile of the department includes a focus on electoral behaviour and electoral studies, public administration, international politics and political ideas.
A new index makes it possible to compare women’s freedoms and rights over time and space in an entirely new way. The index, developed by the research programme Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) at the University of Gothenburg, shows that women’s power and opportunities have increased dramatically over the last 100 years. Lena Fassali is one of our students at The Executive Master’s Progamme in European Studies (EMAES). She works as a Reporting Officer at the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia and she expects to gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics of European politics, with a focus on conflict and cooperation within the EU.
